About

Who Are We?

Established Carolyn Rose School of Sewing in Leamington Spa in 2010. We have seen a succession of happy and satisfied customers who have enjoyed one or more of our workshops and classes. Our shop is full to the brim with all the fabric, haberdashery, patterns, and more that you could ever need!

What Do We Do?

We offer sewing classes for all levels of ability and a range of classes and workshops which cater for all skills and levels. Starting from the very basics with a ‘Learn to Use a Sewing Machine’ class to more complex ‘Pattern Drafting’ courses we aim to guide you and work at your pace so that you will create something you are proud of and will fit you perfectly.  Sewing classes have no more than six students, to allow plenty of time and help for each person.  We believe that students learn best in small groups with a high level of support from patient and attentive teachers in a warm and friendly environment.  We offer a wide range of skills, from dressmaking and soft furnishings to patchwork and crafting.

Our aim is that all students, irrespective of whichever sewing course they have done, leave here having enjoyed themselves and with increased confidence in their ability to sew successfully.

We keep the number of our classes to a minimum, so that you can get maximum benefit from the teaching. All students for the classes and workshops have full use of our sewing machines/overlocker/irons etc. so you only need to bring yourself along – some classes include materials and some require you to provide your choice of fabric so do check before booking.

Sustainability

We do our best to be conscientious of our contribution to the environment. To do this, we have a wide range of 'deadstock' fabrics (fabrics unused by big manufacturers and clothing factories that would otherwise be destined for landfill) and carry a selection of sustainable fibres, such as bamboo jersey. In our workshop, we use your scraps in workshops for smaller craft projects to reduce our own waste. We use paper or bio-degradable plastic bags to keep your fabric safe when you are taking it home from our store. Being a smaller business means we try to do as much as we can - but we are not perfect. We strive to have more ecological options for postage packaging and fabrics in the future and are constantly researching how we can do our part to reduce our waste.
